RC Model Shop Direct and our passion for radio controlled models
Hi, I’m Lee. I’ve been a Radio Controlled Car enthusiast for over 30 years and have a real passion for Radio Controlled Models and the hobby. I’ve raced most of the scales in both On and Off-Road classes and also raced at many of the fantastic venues throughout the UK.
I had a dream many years ago to own my own RC Model Shop and in 2014 decided to “Just Go For it”. With the help of Gary Marsden, who in his own right is an RC legend winning the British RC Rally Cross Championship 2 years running, we both wanted to create something a little special so RC Model Shop Direct was born.
When the doors first opened in October 2014 it was amazing to see so many RC enthusiasts come along and use the track. What was surprising was the number of RC Drifters wanting to use the track on a Friday night! It was a very hard decision to switch the venue into a permanent RC drift venue, it just felt right to do it.
After three amazing years and due to an increase in costs, I had to close the track. Apart from the great memories and new friends we created at the venue we also discovered the amazing talents of our son Jacob ( JB ). Jacob’s ability with an RC drift car started when he was 10 years old and he has now developed into one of the most respected drivers in Europe and is known throughout the world of RC Drifting.
Unfortunately the track had to close but that was not going to stop me believing in my dream. I’m very privilege and lucky to be able to live my dream 9 to 5 (and maybe a few more hours) and get paid for it. RC Model Shop direct is going from strength to strength. I opened our new shop in August 2017 and our online store is growing year on year. With new brands and suppliers wanting to support us, I cannot thank you the customer and supplier enough for helping me achieve my dream.
RC Model Shop Direct was created for all things Radio Controlled but what I think makes it special is the true passion and enjoyment my family and I have for the hobby.
